:  a flexible tube that is used especially for withdrawing gastric juice from the stomach for analysis and that has a syringe at the upper end and an attachment with a slot at the end passing into the stomach

Biographical Note for REHFUSS TUBE

Rehfuss, Martin Emil (1887–1964), American physician. Rehfuss specialized in gastroenterology, and especially in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the stomach. Indigestion and practical therapeutics were two topics of particular interest. In 1914 he devised a method of removing portions of a standard test meal from the stomach at certain intervals by using a flexible tube.
